Biography
Attorney Joseph H. Gillis is a member of the Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation team at Rome Clifford Katz & Koerner.
He joined the firm as a law clerk in September 2024 and was sworn in to the Connecticut Bar on Nov. 8.
The optimal results the firm’s Personal Injury team achieves for clients, and how deeply attorneys connect with those clients, inspired Attorney Gillis to begin his legal career with Rome Clifford Katz & Koerner.
Attorney Gillis was drawn to the law by family tradition – his father is a Partner with Gillis Law Firm in New Haven – and out of a desire to work with people one-on-one and help them with their legal problems.
He received his Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School in 2024.
While in law school, Attorney Gillis served as a legal intern at Ora Clinical in Andover, Mass., drafting contracts for patients seeking admittance to ophthalmic trials, doing patent research for ophthalmic products in early stages of development, and aiding regulatory compliance for clinical studies.
A graduate of Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, he was a member of the college’s Alpine Skiing team. His main event was downhill, he was the team captain for the 2020-21 season, and among other honors, he was named multiple times to the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team.
In addition to skiing, in his free time Attorney Gillis plays golf and details boats.
